Phone Connect Seeks Volunteers

The Phone Connect project is a free community based telephone support service offered to older people in the West Limerick Area empowering them to remain independent in their own homes.   The weekly service provides a listening ear to the elderly allowing them to share any worries or concerns and to be informed of any local events or services.

West Limerick Resources is now seeking volunteers to make these phone-calls from a dedicated space where a mobile phone is available.

All volunteers will be Garda vetted and training will also be made available.

If you would be interested in volunteering or require more information, we would be delighted to hear from you so call Damien at West Limerick Resources on 087 9042477 or Stefanie on 087 3663842.

Is Your Name Harnett ?

Back in 2012 a small group of people got together and organised a Harnett Reunion in order to celebrate our name and the fact that the Harnetts are a major part of the fabric of West Limerick history and society. Much to our surprise people joined us from all over Ireland and abroad.

Since that time Harnett relatives have visited the area each summer and we have had many requests for another reunion. So we are now planning Harnett Reunion International for July 11-14, 2019.  We are currently assembling our programme, which will include genealogy, workshops, local tours, a concert and gala dinner at The Devon Hotel.

We hope to have everything in place for a great event. We would be delighted if you could spread the word and invite everyone to join us in the spiritual home of the Harnetts in West Limerick next July.

A public meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 11 at 9 p.m. in St. Ita’s Hall Abbeyfeale. We would like to invite all branches of the Harnett clan throughout the area to send a representative.
