Unexpectedly, on Wednesday, 3rd October 2018.

Sadly missed by his loving family, son-in-law Kyle, daughters-in-law, Ann Marie and Julie, adored grandchildren: Ailís, Síofra and Fionn, brothers: Michael, John and PJ, sisters: Margaret Jackman and Kay Fitzgerald, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, neighbours and friends.

Rest in peace.

An All-Round Sportsman

Described as a great, all-round sportsman by his Scart neighbour and friend, Tom Fleming, Donie’s life was intertwined with his local GAA club.

“He was part and parcel of Scart GAA Club like his father, Paddy before him and all his brothers played for Scart at one stage or another down through they years – as indeed do Donie’s sons, Pa and Daniel now,” said Tom.

Played Gaelic Football in England

Donie was the kind of man who was naturally gifted at any sport he put his mind to. I remember when he went to England for a while during his playing days he was part of the team which won the All-England Gaelic Football Championship and, the team he played with, played in the championship here under whatever arrangement they had at that time.

Played Soccer with Castleisland

“I know he played soccer with Castleisland teams too for a while and that’s something he had a natural flair for as well.

“Everyone here in the village and around the area is in shock at the news of his death – It was so sudden,” said Tom.

May God be good to him.
