Fabplus took an early lead and dominated the first quarter. Ten of their 18 points came from Adiya Henderson while scores for Tom McCarthy’s came from Aoife Nolan, Mary Herlihy, Maebh Barry and Mia Hopkins.

Closed the Gap

St. Mary’s side closed the gap in the second quarter outscoring their opponents by four with great performances from both Labhaoise Walmsley and Deirdre Geaney and just three points separated the sides at the half time interval.

The third quarter was also close. Team Tom McCarthy’s took it by a basket closing the gap to a single point as the sides went in to the final quarter. Fabplus kept in touch and did not give their opponents any opportunity to get ahead.

Anyone’s Game

It was however anyone’s game in the final period and with just 29 seconds to play the sides were level but a determined Fabplus held on to take the game by three points.

Final Score: Fabplus North West 67 Team Tom McCarthy’s 64.

Scorers for Team Tom McCarthy’s: Mia Hopkns, 17; Deirdre Geaney, 10; Denise Dunlea, 9; Aoife Nolan, 8; Labhaoise Walmsley and Mary Herlihy, 7 each; Maebh Barry, 4 and Siofra O’Shea, 2.
