Members of the Horan family of No. 31 Cahereens West, Castleisland recently travelled to Tralee and presented a cheque for €98.75 from their home Christmas Lights charity appeal.
Lit Their Lights
The Horan’s lit their lights for the North Kerry based animal welfare charity ‘Sera Husky’ – a small, not-for-profit rescue organisation dedicated to helping huskies and wolf type breeds and their owners.
They converted their post box on the front gate into a donations box and provided an information sheet on their chosen charity on the gate.
Recoil from Uncoiling
There are many who would recoil from the uncoiling, wiring and recoiling of the miles of wires and thousands of bulbs necessary for their charity displays.
However, Joan Horan was always into that kind of Christmas display anyway and it all started inside the house it just worked its way to the outside.
Close to our Hearts
“I got the idea that we’d do it for charity in 2017 and we raised funds for Barnardos. Last year’s charity, Sera Husky is also close to our hearts and we’re delighted to be able to contribute to the upkeep as we love the dogs ourselves. And we’d like to thank the people who contributed to the collection,” said Joan.
