St. Mary’s Paris and Siofra on Irish Basketball Squads for Macedonia

St. Mary’s Basketball Club members, Siofra O’Shea (left) and Paris McCarthy who have been named on the Irish U-18 and U-16 squads respectively for the Fédération Internationale de Basket-ball (FIBA) championships in Skopje, Macedonia in July.

St. Mary’s Basketball Club player and Caherciveen native, Síofra O’Shea has been named as one of the final 12 in the squad to represent Ireland at this summer’s Fédération Internationale de Basket-ball (FIBA) U-18 women’s championship in Skopje, Macedonia.

Head Coach from Cordal

Head coach of the team is Cordal native Tommy O’Mahony. The tournament will run from July 5th – 14th.

This announcement comes just two weeks after fellow club member and Castleislander, Paris McCarthy was named on the Irish U-16 final 12.

World Governing Body

FIBAis the world governing body for basketball and is an independent association formed by 213 National Basketball Federations throughout the world.

It is recognized as the sole competent authority in basketball by the International Olympic Committee.
