People Decide the Make Up of Next Council Chamber

After a long weekend of political excitement for the bystanders and one most of the candidates will be glad to have put behind them.

The Grand National is a great analogy for the process we witnessed over the past couple of days and the field is littered with fallen or stalled political ambitions.

And while the fallen dusted themselves off, those who completed the course were hoisted and celebrated by boisterous supporters.

The make up of the next Kerry Council Chamber will look like the following.

Castleisland Electoral Area. Seats 4.

Independents: Jackie Healy-Rae and Charlie Farrelly.

Fine Gael: Bobby O’Connell

Fianna Fáil: Fionnán Fitzgerald

Listowel Electoral Area. Seats 6.

Fine Gael: Aoife Thornton, Mike Kennelly, Michael Foley

Sinn Féin: Tom Barry, Robert Beasley.

Fianna Fáil: Jimmy Moloney.

Tralee Electoral Area. Seats 7

Fianna Fáil: Normal Foley and Mikey Sheehy.

Sinn Féin: Toiréasa Ferris and Pa Daly.

Fine Gael: Jim Finucane.

Labour: Terry O’Brien.

Independent: Sam Locke.

Killarney Electoral Area. Seats 7

Independents: Brendan Cronin, Maura Healy-Rae, Donal Grady, Michael Gleeson, Niall ‘Botty’ O’Callaghan.

Fianna Fáil: Niall Kelleher.

Labour: Marie Moloney.

Corca Dhuibhne Electoral Area. Seats 3

Kenmare Electoral Area. Seats 6
