The school community, staff, parents, students and guests of St Patrick’s Secondary School gathered on Tuesday to mark the end of the school year with their graduation and awards ceremony.
The afternoon began with the graduation mass celebrated by our school chaplain Fr. Buckley.
This was a wonderful ceremony with music, singing and readings provided by the students, teachers and parents of the school.
Afterwards everyone gathered in the River Island Hotel where the various awards were presented. The following awards were presented.
Perfect Attendance Awards: First Year: Padraic Heffernan and Jude McCarthy.
Second Year: James Kenny. Third Year: John Curtin, Denis Horgan and David Griffin. Sixth Year: Dylan Browne , Tommy Curtin and Eoin Culloty.
Student of the Year Awards
First Year: Orange, Ruairí Bourke; White, Micheál Culloty; Second Year: Green, Seamus Fleming. Gold, John O’Connor. Third Year: Blue, Adam Butler.
Red: Micheál Nix. Fifth Year: Connie O’Connor.
Sixth Year Awards
Sports Award: Ethan Reidy. Academic Excellence: Anthony Bird. Jim Lyons Award: Danny Hickey.
Principal’s Award: Donnacha Daly.
Overall Student of the Year:Redmond Horan.
Principal’s Congratulations
Principal Denis O’Donovan congratulated all the award winners wished the class of 2019 the very best for the future.
He thanked them for the great memories they have given all over their time in the school.
“They have been an exceptionally talented group of young people who have contributed hugely to many aspects of school life and above all they are true gentlemen,” said Mr. O’Donovan.
Perfect Attendance Records
A special mention was given to two leaving certificate students, Dylan Browne and Tommy Curtin who have had six year at secondary school with perfect attendance. This is a wonderful achievement by these two students and displays the important qualities of dedication and commitment.
Retirement Wishes
The final part of the ceremony was given to marking the retirement of Deputy Principal, Timmy O’Connor who retires at the end of this school year after 38 years of teaching.
A presentation was made to Mr. O’Connor by student of year Redmond Horan on behalf of all students past and present.
Students and teachers wished Mr. O’Connor the very best in his retirement.
