Congratulations to Catherine Horan of Castleisland Hospice fundraising branch.

Catherine was recognised as a Hospice Hero at a special presentation in the Palliative Care Unit in University Hospital Kerry on Thursday night.

Is Catherine a Hospice Hero or a Hospice Heroine – either way the distinguished honour applies.

A Founding Member

Catherine is a founding member of the Castleisland branch of Kerry Hospice Foundation from the late 1990s.

Having lost several close relatives and friends to cancer, she was very aware of the need for a good palliative care service.

“She has been a constant and dependable member of the group. Always available to volunteer and she has helped Castleisland branch to raise many hundreds of thousands of euro.

She is truly a local hospice hero,” said branch PRO, Liz Galwey.

Hospice Sunflower Day

A reminder that Friday next, June 7th is Hospice Sunflower Day, collectors will be at various stations around the town and your support would, as always, be appreciated.

Anyone who wishes to volunteer to collect may contact Jack Shanahan or any committee member.

Thank You To Choirs

Thank you to the Bois Goetre-Hen Male Choir, Castleisland Parish Choir and Presentation Secondary School Choir which performed In Castleisland parish Church on Sunday.

Many thanks also to everyone who attended and to the Con Houlihan Festival Committee.

The event was a great success and €2,213.67 was raised.

This will go directly to the palliative care unit in UHK.
