Remarkable Comeback by Knocknagoshel

By Paul Doogan

Knocknagoshel traveled to Cromane in Round 5 of the County League last Saturday evening. Cromane, playing with the aid of a strong wind in the first half, got off to the better start with points by former county players Donnacha Walsh and Sean O’Sullivan.

Edmond Walsh responded for Knocknagoshel but Cromane went on to kick the next seven points with Darren Houlihan, Conor Sugrue, Michael Foley and Sean O’Sullivan all finding the range.

Knocknagoshel trailed by 10 points to one after 22 minutes. Shane O’Connell scored the only goal of the game when he shot low to the Cromane net.

Points by Mikey Houlihan and Shane O’Neill were to follow for the home side while two points by Edmond Walsh and one by Michael Keane kept Knocknagoshel in touch.

Half time: Cromane 0-13 Knocknagoshel 1-4.

Knocknagoshel dominated the second half and scored the first eight points. Michael Walsh, David O’Donoghue, Conor Sheehan and Edmond Walsh all got on the scoresheet.

Cromane scored frees from Sean O’Sullivan and Darren Houlihan but a late Edmond Walsh point capped a remarkable comeback for Knocknagoshel.
