It’s Road Running and Horse Racing Weekend in Castleisland

The annual Humphrey Murphy Memorial Road Race / Fun Run will get the annual Castleisland Horse and Pony Races Weekend off to a running start on this Friday evening at 7pm.

Humphrey Remembered

Athletes of all abilities, shapes and sizes are invited to take part in the event in honour of the late Humphrey Murphy a North Cork native who died tragically in a workplace accident here in Castleisland in the summer of 2011.

Registration at 6:30pm

Registration for both and 5k and 10k will be held at 6:30pm at Limerick Road and the event will cater for the serious and fun runners and both sets of participants will start at different points on Limerick Road.

Medals for All Participnts

There will be souvenir medals for all participants and prizes for all class winners. Entry Fees are set at €10 per runner and families at €20.

All the proceeds will go to Glebe Lodge Residential Centre, Castleisland.

Sunday is Horse Racing Day

On this Sunday , June 16th at Powell’s Road, the action turns from feet-on-the-street to hooves on the turf as the annual Castleisland Races get under way with a ten race card from 12:30pm.

Here too, all the gate goes to local charities and the organisers promise a great family day out.
