Kerry Sinn Féin councillor Pa Daly has called on the HSE to explain why ambulances were reputably unable to offload their patients in a timely manner at University Hospital Kerry on Friday.

Seven Ambulances Waiting

“I have received reports that there were up to seven ambulances waiting with patients outside the Emergency Department at University Hospital Kerry at one stage.

“Astonishingly I was told that an ambulance crew from Dingle had been waiting for nearly three hours to hand over their patient. Other areas are waiting a similar length of time. This is completely unacceptable.

Emergency Department Delays

“Parts of Kerry are being left without ambulance cover on a busy bank holiday weekend because of long delays at the Emergency Department.

“I will be asking Deputy Martin Ferris to raise this disgraceful situation with the Minister for Health and the HSE,” said Cllr. Daly in conclusion.
