Last Handed Down of 2019 Says Goodbye to 1969

The final Handed Down presentation of 2019 will bring the curtain down on the 50th anniversary of the Star Above the Garter LP recording tomorrow night, Saturday, December 7th. from 8pm.

Presenter, Matt Cranitch is coming from Cork armed with recording rarities of Denis Murphy and Julia Clifford.

Fierce Importance

“Matt has placed fierce importance on this event and requested that it be moved from his usual January date in the Handed Down schedule,” said handed Down co-founder, PJ Teahan.

“As a thank you to all our loyal supporters there will be free booklets at the door from this year’s anniversary concert which is now available to view online under the title World Fiddle Day Concert Scartaglin 2019,” PJ continued.

Guest List

Guests on Saturday night include: singer Noelle Barrett- Neziri; Mike Rice, Máiread Corridan and Gearóid Keating; Kenmare based quartet of Mary Donegan, Noreen O Shea, Nick Urwin and Dave Shapiro.

Young Musicians
The young musicians slot will be filled on this occasion by nine-year old fiddle player, Óisín O’Connor, Cullen, Co. Cork. U-12 All-Ireland concertina winner, Éabha Murphy, Ovens, Co. Cork and a group of students: Síne Fogarty and Aoibheann Buckley, Ballybunion; Marie Flynn and Emma Flynn, Templeglantine; Emma Crowley, Killorglin; Breean Cunningham, Glin and music teacher, Maura O’Connor, Abbeyfeale.

The programme of events for the night will start at 8 pm sharp.
