In a simple presentation of a massive gesture in Castleisland today, Pa Burke and Siobhan Donnelly from Cara Credit Union presented St. Mary’s Basketball Club with boxes of gear bags to mark their extra special Christmas event 2019.

This morning’s presentation means that each child participating in the club’s Christmas Blitz will receive one of the bags.

A Timely Partnership

The timely partnership comes as St. Mary’s celebrates the 50th year of ‘The Blitz’ as the Credit Union in Castleisland will celebrate its 40th year in the town in 2020.

“We’re delighted to partner with St. Mary’s for the 50th Blitz,” said Castleisland branch Manager, Pa Burke.

“The Blitz is very much part of Christmas in the town and we would like to support the hard work being done by the organisers.

Support Through the Year

“I would also like to thank all our members for their support throughout the year. This support allows us provide sponsorship like today’s back to the community.

“In 2020 we’ll have €50 million to lend. So if you need a loan in the course of the year call into us for a chat and we’ll be happy to help,” said Mr. Burke.

Club Delighted with Presentation

St. Mary’s Basketball Club PRO, Liz Galwey said that the club and ‘The Blitz’ organisers in particular are delighted with today’s presentation.

“It means that we’ll be able to present all the national school children, the under16s and our history making academy teams with one of the bags as an extra token of our appreciation for their efforts.

“And we’re very grateful to Cara Credit Union for going the extra mile with us in this, our special anniversary year,” said Ms. Galwey.
