Castleisland’s Mary Geaney was presented with the Outstanding Contribution to Sport 2019 Award at The Irish Times/Sport Ireland ceremony at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin yesterday.

It’s probably the only award that the all-round sportswoman hasn’t already been honoured with and probably because it wasn’t there up to now.

65 International Hockey Caps

A multi-honoured Gaelic footballer and camogle player and captain for her native Kerry and Cork respectively, Mary also played hockey for Ireland to the tune of 65 caps.

She was also an excellent badminton player and is currently gracing the golf courses of Kerry and beyond.
