The annual general meeting of the Cordal Community Resource Centre will take place in the centre on Monday night, March 9th. at 7,30pm.

“This is a ideal opportunity for new people to get involved in the running of a community centre in the heart of the parish,” said centre PRO John O’Connell.

Camaraderie and Friendship

At his retirement function in Hughes Bar at the end of February last year, Thade O’Donoghue said that the 21 years that he served as caretaker of the centre were full of camaraderie and friendship.

He also recalled that when he went in there first – all those years ago – there was little more than four walls and a kitchen but that the centre had developed into one that any community would be proud of.

Part of the centre’s support system is supplied by a Wednesday night 31 card drive which runs throughout the winter months.
