Castleisland Day Care Centre Hoping for Blanket Coverage of Fundraiser

Castleisland Day Care Centre Nurse / Manager, Marcella Finn with a sample of the blankets which are now for sale at the centre as a fundraising initiative.

The past few months have been a difficult time for everyone, with limited social interaction and restrictions of movement in order to protect ourselves from the COVID-19 virus.

In accordance with public health guidelines, Castleisland Day Care Centre has had to suspend its day care services until further notice.

In the meantime, the centre has restructured its services and is now providing meals on wheels, laundry service and telephone support.

Time on Their Hands

“During the crisis all of our clients had to cocoon and they found that they had a lot of time on their hands with little to do,” said centre Nurse Manager, Marcella Finn.

“Prior to the Covid-19 lock-down, the centre had started a knitting project which we run every year.

“All the finished products go to an orphanage in Belarus – a charity which we have links with through one of our clients.

“We also found that a lot of our clients were looking for wool in order to continue this project from home.

Knitting Wool On-Line

We managed to order knitting wool online and distribute to our knitters’ homes where the project was continued with great enthusiasm

We now have our forty knitted blankets which we would normally be sending to our chosen charity in Belarus, but due to lock-down we are unable to do so

Blankets are for Sale

“We are now offering these knitted blankets for sale with all the proceeds going towards our own meals on wheels services.

“If you are interested in supporting Castleisland Day Care Centre by purchasing a knitted blanket from €30 each please you contact us through our Facebook page or on 066 71 43 865 and people can ring that number to arrange collection ,” said Marcella.
