With the Covid-19 Virus still calling the shots and dictating when and if events may or may not be held – even in public – we learn that two local charity events have been knocked off their scheduled dates.

The Paudie Fitzmaurice Tractor and Vintage Car Run has been pushed back from its original September 6th date to Sunday, October 11th.

Drive-In-Bingo Back to October 4th

Cllr. Charlie Farrelly has confirmed that the Castleisland Races Committee has also been advised that its charity Drive-In-Bingo session is deemed as an event which is likely to draw a crowd and thereby contravene the national health guidelines and advice.

The next session was due to be held on the yard of the Castleisland Co-Op Mart on Sunday, September 13th but that has now been moved out to the Sunday of October 4th.

€14,500 Raised for Local Charities

With two of the drive-in sessions to its credit so far this year, the committee has raised and presented at total of €14,500 to several local charities.

In that vein, the bingo on October 4th will be in aid of Castleisland Day Care Centre and the Irish Red Cross to help the latter with the purchase of an extra ambulance.

“We hope that everyone understands that the re-scheduling of this Drive-in-Bingo is beyond our control and in keeping with advice and national health guidelines,” said Cllr Farrelly.
