Castleisland Community College U-14 girls’ basketball team has been presented with a set of basketball gear from local coach hire company O’Connor Coaches.

The jerseys were purchased just before the nation-wide lock-down of schools last March when

the company provided coach transport for this talented team to the various games.

They ensured the team got safely to and from their games, where victories were celebrated with laughter and songs on the way home.

An Extremely Successful Year

The U-14 team had an extremely successful year and was well on its way to winning an All-Ireland title.

The team reached the semi-final of the U-14 A Division of the South West National League and the semi-final of the A Division Cup Championship.

The cup championship was due to have taken place in Tallaght before the lock-down.

Basketball Season Yet to Start

As the new school academic year has begun, and schools have reopened, the school basketball season however has yet to restart.

Training and matches have been postponed indefinitely as all precautions are being taken to ensure schools remain open during the present pandemic.
