Castleisland Festival Supporters

Liam and his brother Donal and their friends have always been great supporters of the Patrick O’Keeffe Traditional Music Festival here in Castleisland down through the years.

It’s oddly coincidental that it’s from the Monday nights of the festival that I remember Liam O’Connor  best. And he passed away on Monday of this week which coincided with the closing day of this year’s virtual festival.

He loved the small, packed pub atmosphere of Sheila Prendiville’s where many a weekend wound down and came to a pleasant halt after a hectic few days and nights.

While playing in the various sessions throughout the town over the course of the weekends, Liam and his little group discovered the Monday night finale in Sheila’s.

He often teamed up there with his cousin the late Jackie Dan Jerry O’Connor in the years after Brennan’s Bar closed in December 2008.

May God be good to them all.
