Castleisland Christmas to be Launched by Fr. Mossie’s Crib Blessing on Friday

I don’t meddle with photographs in terms of adding or taking things out but I thought I’d do a job on this one of the grand old lady of the Latin Quarter, The Market House.

There was a lovely bit of atmosphere around on Friday evening as the lights came on and, between the tree and the street lights and the gloaming of the evening itself it did create a little bit of badly needed magic.

Once-Off Image

I took away the sign posts which covered much of the facade of the fine old building to create this once-off image. Then I ‘dipped’ it in an oil paint filter and there it is.

Unlike the ceremony which surrounded the turning on of the lights in years past, this year they were timed to shine on Friday evening and they obliged.

Christmas will get going a little early this year when Fr. Mossie Brick will bless the crib at The Fountain on Friday at 2pm.

The crib has been erected for years now by Dan Lynch and this year wont be any different in that respect. It will be quieter with less people around for the blessing.
