Maybe it was the introduction of the Padre Pio Devotions to the Parish of Castleisland and the wider community or that fact the both Herlihy’s shop with its religious items had closed, along with Doris Fitzmaurice and her late sister Marion decided to retire from supplying signed Mass Cards to the community that the opportunity arose to open a religious gift shop in Castleisland Parish Church.

Parish Office and Shop

Due to Covid 19, the Parish Office had to relocate to the front of the church during the year and it was decided then to also open a small Parish Shop to offer a selection of religious items such as statues, holy water fonts, rosary beads as well as a wide selection of Christmas gift ideas.

It also stocks gift ideas from baptisms to first holy communions, confirmation as well as something for new home owners.

We also stock a large selection of signed Mass Cards for every occasion from the cradle to the grave as well as everything in-between,” said Nora Fealey and Noreen O’Sullivan – the masked faces you’ll meet at the shop and the office – respectively.

Parish Challenges and Public Goodwill

Over the last nine months the parish has faced many challenges and changes but the support and good will that had been received from the community as well as the many new people we came into contact with via the Parish Office / Shop, by phone or email and our Facebook page has been a tremendous support to us and for that we are truly thankful and very grateful.
