The traditional 60,000 strong roar will be missing today as the Cheltenham Racing Festival continues its run since it was founded in 1860.

And because the atmospheric gatherings are missing from this festival again this year, Castleisland AFC has launched its Fantasy Cheltenham fundraiser where €750 is up for grabs to the best tipsters.

No Bookmakers – No Pubs

“With no bookmakers or pubs opening their doors for Cheltenham this year, this fundraiser offers people a great way to have an interest in the four days of racing of the Cheltenham festival for a small cost of €20 for the week,” said club spokesman, Neil O’Sullivan.

The prize money is as follows: First Prize – €500; Second Prize – €150 and Third Prize – €100

How it Works

Each day of the Cheltenham Festival, Castleisland AFC has selected five feature races. All contestants need to do is to pick which horses they think will win those races.

Points will be awarded based on the starting price of each winning selection. For example – should your horse win at a price of 10/1 you will receive 10 points.

Terms and Conditions

Should it finish second or third you will receive half of the starting price i.e. five points. The overall prize winner will be awarded to the contestant with the top points total at the end of the festival.

If there is a tie, the player with the most first placed selections will be the winner. Full term and conditions will be given to all contestants once they have entered the competition.

Daily Leader Boards

Daily leader boards will be posted on Castleisland AFC’s social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

How to Enter

It’s very easy to enter the competition. Simply send a message to any of the club’s social media accounts or text Neil on 086 3108671.

Payment can be made in cash, by Revolut or by bank transfer which can be organised when you message the club or Neil.

Selections by 12 Noon Daily

No horses need to be picked just yet but it is important to get signed up so the club can organise follow ups.

Once entered, contestants must make their selections by 12 noon each day of the festival. This will be managed on a WhatsApp Group, through text or on social media. Whichever works best for each contestant.
