Castleisland Desmonds 4-17 Austin Stacks 2-3.

Desmonds ladies travelled to Tralee on a lovely autumn morning last Sunday where they played Stacks in their first game of this year’s Randles Brothers County Intermediate Championship.

By Gerdie Murphy

The visiting team rushed into the lead with some excellent scores from the boots of Lorraine Scanlon and Paris McCarthy and the first goal came from Niamh Walsh.

Ahead at the Water Break

This left the girls from the island leading 1-5 to no score at the first water break.

With the ever reliable Gemma Kearney and Grace Cahill playing well in the back, Stacks had no answer to them and we saw Niamh Walsh score a second goal to go in at half time leading 2-8 to 0-2.

Tried Their Best

In the second half the Stacks tried their best to get into the frame but an injury to their full forward Kerry Oba saw the game escape from them.

We saw Paris McCarthy score another goal and this game was over as contest.

Well done to all of the girls and also to the team management, Dan Kearney, Denis Kerin and Mary Geaney.

Next Game At Home

Their next game is this coming Sunday, September 19th at home to Scartaglen in Round 2 of this year’s championship.
