Castleisland Desmonds Ladies Advance over Waterford Champions

Castleisland Desmonds ladies had a two-point victory over Waterford county champions, Kilrossanty/Brickeys on Sunday afternoon in Castleisland.

The home side opened the scoring with an early point from Lorraine Scanlon and the visitors scored the first goal from play three minutes later through Eileen Kirwan. Desmonds drew level with points from Kayla O’Connor Paris McCarthy.

Desmonds Down at the Break
The visitors struck for another goal from full forward Sheena McGuckian and they went into the half-time break leading 2-2 to 0-6 after points from Desmonds, Julie AnnTwomey, Paris McCarthy and Lorraine Scanlon brought them to within two.
The home side’s Niamh Walsh scored two points, one each from a free and from play.

Digging Deep – Saving the Day
The visitors scored four more points and with the home side under pressure we saw them dig deep and scores from Lorraine Scanlon and Labhaoise Walmsley saved the day and saw them win by two points.

Desmond now face Galtee Rovers St. Pecaun’s at the Milltown / Castlemaine GAA Club grounds on the coming Saturday at 12pm in the Munster Intermediate Semi-Final.
