Castleisland Macra Club members said that they considered it a privilege to be in a position to gift hampers to the Castleisland Day Care Centre annually over the past four years.

“Now more than ever it is imperative to support services like this in our communities,” said club PRO, Deborah Nash.

The hampers will be raffled each day of the week, starting today Monday, December 13th as part of their Christmas week, where names are put into a hat from five different groups of clients.

One winner will be chosen from the hat each day.

Book Club -The Latest Addition

“As a club, we are going from strength to strength – we have set up a book club during Covid-19 where we hold meetings every two weeks either online or in person – the first of its kind in Kerry no less,” said Ms. Nash.

“No doubt each and every club had its difficulties during the last 12 months or so, but I feel more connected to my friends in the group as a result.

“We endeavoured to catch up with one another as much as possible, which is where the book club came into its own when we couldn’t meet up in person physically due to the restrictions.

Walking Throughout the Locality

“In the past week, we have met up at The Caddyshack in Killarney to host one of our meetings.

We also have been on various walks in the locality like the Castleisland River Walk, Glanageenty and Ballyseedy Woods along with trips to the cinema and restaurants.

“There is a real mix of hobbies within our group and something to cater for everyone.

“Personally, since I have joined the club I have garnered life-long friends and developed skills that I can use in other capacities,” Ms. Nash enthused.

Find Us on Facebook

“I would encourage anyone who is looking for another outlet in life to join us on Thursday night, December 16th in Browne’s Bar at 8pm.

“We can also be found on Facebook using the following link: https://www.facebook.com/killeentierna.macra or alternatively by searching for Castleisland District Macra and we would be delighted to welcome you to our club,” said Deborah in conclusion.
