Fan Tastic

As PRO of Brosna GAA, I want to say a special thank you to the players and management of all our Brosna and amalgamated teams.

You have done us proud this year and given us so much joy.  Also a very special thank you to the wonderful supporters of Brosna GAA, to those fantastic people who travel long distances, stand in brutal weather conditions or tune into Twitter from a sun lounger in Dubai or some other exotic corner of the globe.

You are the most positive and supportive group of individuals; always quick with well wishes to the squads on Facebook.  You are the wave that keeps Brosna GAA floating and on course.  Thank you everyone for being there for us.

North Kerry Semi Final: Brosna v Desmonds

Storm Barra may have passed over Co Kerry earlier in the week but a near relation made a belated visit on Sunday.

In grim conditions, Brosna took on the might of the current North Kerry champions, Desmonds, in a physical and gritty game in Knocknagoshel.

Brosna were late getting into the swing of the game and allowed Desmonds to get a five point head start.

Timmy Finnegan finally got Brosna on the scoreboard with a terrific point from play followed by a super Shane Curtin point. At the halfway mark it was Brosna 0-2.  Desmonds 0-6.

In the second half a free converted by Paul Walsh and a cracker of a goal by Kieran O’Donnell saw Brosna trail Desmonds by a mere three points at the second water break.

A goal by Desmonds in the fourth quarter all but extinguished Brosna’s chances.  Two great frees by Tom McGoldrick and two points for Mike Finnegan weren’t enough to claw back the deficit. Full-time Brosna 1-7.  Desmonds 1-11.

Deirdre and Lily – Munster Champions

Well done to the talented Lily Cox and Deirdre Guiney who lifted the Munster cup with Desmonds at the weekend.

We are so proud of your extraordinary achievements with Desmonds LGFA and we wish you well for the All Ireland semi final.

Mrs. Joan Moloney, RIP

We remember the late Mrs. Joan Moloney of Kilmanihan who passed away recently.

Sincere sympathies to Donie and family on their sad loss.  Rest in Peace.
