A Fine Banjo Player

Tony was a fine banjo player and he adapted very well to Irish traditional music when he came to Castleisland first and he was equally at home on guitar when the occasion demanded.

He spent over two decades on the road at home and abroad with the traditional group the Flight of Earls and he was the regular anchorman at the traditional and country music nights at Kearney’s Bar.

He could change smoothly between playing melody and chords and he was always up for a session alongside official engagements playing for concerts functions, weddings and other such occasions with his band.

At Sheila Prendiville’s Bar and Grocery he would team up tunefully with the late Jackie Dan Jerry O’Connor on accordion and Jackie’s sons, Joe, also on banjo and Jerry on fiddle.

May he Rest in Peace
