Spring Cleaning

What a stunning week of weather we’ve enjoyed.  And it feels twice blessed to arrive so early in the year.

No doubt, the gardeners of the Parish have been out and about striving to draw order from chaos after the hard winter months.  But why not look a little further than your own front lawns and think of the parish in general.  It’s time for the County Clean Up!  2 April is the designated day when everyone can enjoy a nice walk while also picking up litter from the roadsides.  James McAulifffe, as ever, is co-ordinating this drive.  With bags and pickers available, call to his house in The Square at any time before Saturday to get your kit.  You can do the clean up at a time that suits you best. The collective efforts of all concerned is truly appreciated.

On the Topic of Litter..

And on the topic of litter, let’s educate the next generation on the value of disposing of refuse in the proper way.

Taking plastic bottles and wrappers home to be recycled is the right thing to do.  We live in the most picturesque of parishes.  Let’s pull together to keep it that way.  Thank you James and all you good citizens working towards this meaningful goal.

GAA  Action

The weekend was a busy one. Our senior squad were out against Ballydonoghue in round 1 of division 3 senior football league action.

To a man, the team produced an intelligent and gutsy performance.  The work-rate was impressive.  There were innumerable turnovers and good clean defending as well as impressive player discipline in the face of some blistering tackles.

Honourable mentions to Adam Barry who produced 1-2 on the day.  And Tom McGoldrick who bagged seven points most of which were from flawless place kicking.

The supportive and evolved commentary from the sideline management was definitely a contributing factor, engendering a culture of positivity throughout the game.

Well done to one and all. Full time: Brosna 1-12.  Ballydonoghue 1-8.

Fixture

SFL Round 2 – Brosna seniors are away to Dr Crokes B this weekend.

The game is scheduled for Saturday, April 2nd at 6pm. Keep an eye on Brosna GAA social media channels for any updates.

LGFA Brosna / Knock Ladies

The U14 BrosnaKnock girls were in Ballyduff on Saturday.

The lively game saw some dramatic goals scored by both teams. B/K came out on top with a full-time score of Brosna/ Knock 5-5.  Ballyduff 3-7.

Our squad really looked fabulous in their new jerseys. More to come on that topic shortly.
