Easter Magic
Wishing all of our Brosna family at home and abroad a joyful and happy Easter. This is the most important religious festival in the Christian calendar so we honour and respect the traditions of those among us who are celebrating Easter at this time.
For others, who enjoy Easter for more secular reasons, may the Easter bunny arrive laden down with chocolate eggs and all good things. It really is a magical time of year. Winter’s clutches are losing strength, the evenings are longer and our gardens are coming back to life.
We live in a beautiful and safe place. We’ve so much to be thankful for.
GAA News – What a Week!
What a week for local footballing talent. Last week, our two national schools, Brosna and Knockaclarig descended on Austin Stack Park in Tralee to compete in separate county finals.
Brosna put on a valiant display but sadly lost out in what would be a very high scoring competition. All wasn’t lost for the parish though, as the irrepressible Knockaclarig claimed victory over Fybough NS and were crowned county champions.
Congratulations to everyone involved with both teams, teachers, parents, trainers and let us not forget the wonderful students who played with such heart and courage.
Knockaclarig and Brosna you have made us proud. We salute you.
SFL Division 3 Round 3
Currow arrived to a chilly Brosna on Friday last to take on our senior panel in round three of the county senior football league.
With two defeats so far in the league, Currow had a do or die attitude on the night and a quick goal in the first minute of the game underlined their intent.
Brosna with two wins so far were perhaps a little complacent overall. With a great deal of possession, it was disappointing to see our home side miss golden opportunities to pull ahead.
For all of that, Brosna got some good points on the night amassing 12 points by the final whistle. The Currow goal and converted penalty would be the defining scores for the visitors that yielded them their much desired win. Full time score: Brosna 0-12. Currow 2-8.
