The13 year old phenomenon that is the Pieta Darkness into Light fundraiser was first held in the Phoenix Park in Dublin with 400 people in attendance.

The most recent attendance figures have soared to an estimated 150,000 participants at more than 150 locations throughout the country. Now add Castleisland.

Darkness into Light is coming to Castleisland, or rather, it’s coming from within, on this Saturday morning – and it’s early,  like 5am early.

Hosted by The Forge Coffee and Market Store where proprietor, Tadhg McGillicuddy and Maurice O’Connor have mapped out a nice 5K route which skirts the town all the way around.

Delighted to Host the Walk

“We’re delighted to host the first Pieta – Darkness into Light walk in Castleisland,” said Tadhg.

“The route we’re taking will start at ‘The Forge’ at 5am on Saturday morning and head to the main Tralee roundabout and around to the Killarney roundabout and back into to town down Cahernard, up Church Street and back down town finishing at the Forge where the team will have tea / coffee and treats with all proceeds going to the charity.
Suppliers Donations
“Local suppliers like Killarney Coffee, Lee Strand have willingly donated for the event and some of the Forge local producers have kindly baked some goodies for the morning also.
“We’re delighted to be hosting such a great event for a great cause,” said Tadhg.
