Reverse Psychology – Senior Football League Division 3 Round 5

It was a hot and heavy encounter with St. Pat’s Blennerville on Sunday when they arrived at Páirc na Féile for their Round 5 of Division 3, Senior Football League game.

Both St Pats and Brosna had two recent losses under their collective belts so a win on the day was a priority.

Brosna had a slew of wides in the first half and it was only the indiscipline of the visitors, gifting frees that Tom McGoldrick put over with aplomb, that kept us in the game.

Inside Out After the Break

At half time it was five points apiece. For the second half, to help differentiate from the similarly coloured St Pat’s strip, Brosna turned their jerseys inside out.

Whether it was some sort of piseogs or just plain old gumption but the home-side drove on with determination and closed out the game as worthy winners.

Full time score: Brosna 0-11.  St. Pat’s 0-7.

Scorers Tom McGoldrick, Timmy Finnegan and Paul Walsh showed their finesse supported by an incredible work rate by their compatriots.

John Creedon’s Inside Out Retweet

These hard, gritty games are really the ones worth winning.  On such days, we learn more about our willingness to grind it out and keep a cool head.

Congrats to all involved and to all the fans who turn up each week to keep the flag flying.  Interestingly, John Creedon retweeted the photograph of our captain, Kieran O’Donnell in his reversed jersey with the caption – How about this for an ingenious solution to a problem? They also went on to win by four points. ‘T’is hard to outsmart the Kerry lads. Up Brosna!  – Thanks, John, couldn’t have put it better myself.

Sincere Sympathy

We extend our sincere sympathies to the families in the parish who have recently lost a loved one.

Mrs. Lena Murphy of Knegare passed away at home in the presence of her loving family on 14 April.  Lena was the wife of the late BJ Murphy and a loving mother to her sons and daughters.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

The very distinguished Mr. Maurice Leahy of Ahane passed away at home surrounded by his loving family.

A popular addition to the Castleisland Day Care Centre for many years, he will be missed by all his friends who travelled with him on that bus. We extend our best wishes to Maurice’s sons and daughters and family at home and abroad.

Wedding Bells

We send our very best wishes to Ciaran Cahill and his bride Stacey Higgins who were married recently.

By all accounts it was a great weekend of celebrations.  May you have a long and happy life together.

Music – Fleadh by the Feale

Congrats to Cieran Murphy and friends who won first prize U-15 in the Fleadh by the Feale busking competition.

What talent and what a performance. Well done to all involved.
