Minister Norma Foley has welcomed the announcement that €791,460 in funding will be made available for the upgrade of rural lane-ways and non-public roads in Kerry.

Minister for Education and Kerry TD Norma Foley has welcomed the announcement that €791,460 in funding will be made available for the upgrade of rural laneways and non-public roads in Kerry under the Local Improvement Scheme.

This funding announcement will effectively double the amount invested by Government, building on the €704,030  paid out in April, bringing the total investment in Kerry for 2022 to €1,495,490.

The focus of the Local Improvement Scheme is on upgrading rural laneways and non-public roads which provide access to homes, farms and outdoor amenities.

Local Residents and Landowners Consulted

Prior to today’s announcement, each local authority was asked to consult with local residents and landowners and identify road and laneway projects where works could start immediately and be completed this year.

Minister Foley said that she’s delighted to see further funding of over €790,000 being allocated to Kerry as part of Our Rural Future’s Local Improvement Scheme.

“This allocation will allow for the sustained improvement, upgrading and enhancing of roads in rural communities and will improve vital access to rural homes and farms throughout the county,” she said.
