It’s being billed as the Grill Master Ireland Fire Burning Competition and it’s expected to bring barbecue cooking specialists to Castleisland from all over Ireland.

It’s all planned for The Crown Hotel from Friday, September 23rd to Sunday 25th inclusive and is being planned as an annual event showcasing the best in BBQ cooking.

Five finalists will emerge after competing against each other over three days while showcasing their skills.

They will be given numerous challenges throughout the weekend on different braai/bbq cooking styles.

BBQ Work Stations and Tools

All contestants will be provided with the essentials for each cooking style and will have their own work stations and tools.

This is a fantastic opportunity to watch Ireland’s hottest grill masters cooking live in person.

There is a production team who will be filming the competition for a dedicated YouTube channel.

“We would like to invite street food vendors and artisan food producers to come and set up for the three days and sell their wares to the crowds attending over the weekend as there will be a great atmosphere around the area for this event,” said Robert Flanagan on behalf of the organising group.

An Appeal for Accommodation

The locally owned Kerry Kefir is confirmed as is The Wood Oven Mobile Artisan Pizzas; Bandito’s Tacos; Pickle Rick’s Smash Burgers and Chicken Wings; Hellbent Boerwors Sausages and more.

“We also need to appeal for accommodation if possible. With five contestants, three judges, four film crew and more than likely people’s families coming we really need some houses or even mobile homes on campsites or a guest house to accommodate us all.

“We need help to find someone who would sponsor this or have as small a cost as possible to help us all out.

“There just may be some fellow BBQ lovers around that would love to help us out.

For the Love of BBQ

“All of us organising this are doing it free of charge and for the love of BBQ and we love the idea that we will also promote the local area and produce too.

I really hadn’t thought that would also be a by-product of our initial intentions to set this competition up which was originally all about the BBQ.

“This will be something we look to grow year on year and it has really made this more special to be part of.

I know Joe Browne is hosting this year, but I can see this growing into something bigger and needing more venues next year.

Promoting the Whole Town

“It’s brilliant how Joe is looking to help promote the whole town and this through his love of BBQ like ourselves,”said Robert.

This exciting, new event for Castleisland will be family friendly and of interest to bbq enthusiasts and foodies.

On Friday the competition will start at 1pm and finish at 7pm. There will be one big cook and a series of smaller challenges in between.

Saturday: 7am to 5pm. After each contestant has completed their challenges, three contestants will be eliminated with two going forward to the final on Sunday.

Winner ‘Crowned’ on Sunday

On Sunday between 7am to 4pm The Grill Master Ireland 2022 winner will be ‘Crowned.’
