History in The Hall

The launch of the much anticipated The Brosna Land Struggle (1876-1916) is taking place in the Hall on December 3rd at 8pm.

Resident historian and raconteur, Tom Roche, will be there to introduce his latest publication. It’s a golden opportunity to get a signed copy of what promises to be a fascinating account of our Parish’s history. MC for the night is our very own John Cronin and if that’s not enough enticement to come out, I am told there will be some tasty refreshments too. See you there!

GAA News: Thank You, Brosna Seniors and Management

Well, it was a day of high-intensity football in Duagh on Sunday.

Brosna senior squad, under the able management of William Curtin, Bobby Woods and Paul Reidy, brought their all to the North Kerry Football Championship semi-final replay against Listowel Emmets.

The opening goal by Emmets was a set-back but Brosna got into formation to claw back the deficit and closed out the first half on a level footing with their opponents.

The second half saw Brosna show dazzling patches of brilliance in both defence and attack. At one stage we were three points clear with five minutes on the clock.

But a dogged resurgence by a young Emmets side saw them tack on point after point and at full time it was a drawn game.

Extra time brought weather of biblical proportions. A number of scoring chances for Brosna went wide due to terrible gusting wind and rain but they never faltered, fighting for every ball. I’m not alone saying that the sustained effort by Brosna throughout extra time was heroic.

The Brosna support rose the rafters encouraging their squad too, but Emmets found the points to hammer out a win.

Even on difficult days we wear our colours with pride. Thank You, Brosna seniors and management for your dedication. You’ve exceeded expectations this year against the odds. Take a bow!

It Ain’t Over Yet

Don’t pack your Brosna supporter scarf in mothballs just yet.

Brosna B’s are going buzzing in Castleisland on 3 December at 2pm.  It’s the Brendan Boyle Junior Cup McCarthy Financial Services semi-final against Duagh B.  Bee there to shout our brilliant Bs on.
