There’s shocking, reverberating news sweeping its way through the world of traditional music over the last couple of days with the passing of Jimmy Doyle and just this evening with the unexpected death of Séamus Begley / Séamus Ó Beaglaoich.
Anywhere they went or were playing there was fun and bits of devilment.
The picture here during a concert at Causeway Comprehensive School in the summer of 2008 shows Séamus trying to take Jimmy’s shoes off while they were supposed to be posing for the photograph above with from left: Danny O’Mahony, John Lucid and John Brosnan.
Both men were well known to Castleisland audiences as they have been coming here for the Patrick O’Keeffe Traditional Music Festival on and off since it started in 1993.
