Minister Foley welcomes over €250,000 for Students Coping with Cost of Living 

Minister for Education Norma Foley, TD has welcomed the announcement of funding to help MTU students with the cost of living. 

Minister for Education and Kerry T.D. Norma Foley, welcomes confirmation of €253,764.00 in funding to assist students attending Munster Technological University (MTU) with the cost of living.

This one-off-funding will be provided through the Student Assistance Fund, which assists students with the costs of books and class materials, rent, childcare and transport, among other things. 

In total €4.3 million is being made available and will be distributed to students through the Access Offices in publicly funded Higher Education Colleges.

Minister Foley said that the Student Assistance Fund is an invaluable resource for those third level students who may be struggling due to recent rises in the cost of living and will be made available to applicants in early 2023.

“I thank Minister Harris for confirming this funding which will provide further supports to students attending MTU and Higher Education Institutions throughout Ireland,” she concluded.
