Preparations Well Underway For Pres Castleisland’s Night at the OsKaRs

Comedian Bernard Casey will be one of the celebrity judges for the Presentation Castleisland’s fundraising event, Night at the Oskars while ‘The Fleming’s’ Derry will feature as ‘The Bull McCabe’ in The Field.

Preparations at Presentation Castleisland are well underway for their ‘Night at the OsKaRs’ community involvement and fundraising event.

With Kevin Rowe Events coming down from Dublin to film seven famous movies, the organising committee has managed to recruit sixty six locals to star in each film.

A ‘casting night’ was held on January 23rd and each actor was cast in a role for one of the following seven blockbusters: The Field, Forrest Gump, Shawshank Redemption, Misery, Veronica Guerin, The Snapper and Bridesmaids.

Training on Mondays

Training for these films will commence on Monday, February 20th and continue for one night a week over a four week period.

Filming will take place over two weekends in the Castleisland area on Saturday, March 25th and Sunday, March 26th as well as on Saturday, April 1st and Sunday, April 2nd.

The ‘Night at the OsKaRs’ event itself will then take place on Friday, April 21st in the Great Southern Hotel in Killarney, in which all movies will be showcased, celebrities will judge, and numerous OsKaR trophies will be presented.

The Bull in The Field

Famous local and national faces such as Derry Fleming will star as ‘The Bull’ in The Field, and comedian Bernard Casey will feature as one of the celebrity judges on the night.

Doors open at 6.30pm and the show will start at 8pm on the night, with the dress code being smart casual – feel free to wear a tux or ball gown.

As well as being a community involvement event, this is also a school fundraiser for Presentation Castleisland.

The money raised will fund the updating of the performing arts stage in the school hall, a facility that will ultimately benefit the whole community, as it will be available for use by local drama and musical societies.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Each actor involved in the films will aim to individually fund-raise, however there are also options for local businesses to get involved in the sponsorship.

Sponsorship options are as follows: Sole sponsor of one movie at €1,000 which includes your logo being displayed before the movie on the big screen and throughout the night, an advertising stand on the red carpet, two complimentary tickets and a full page in the booklet for the show.

Joint sponsor of one movie for €500 which includes, your logo being displayed before the movie on the big screen and throughout the night – with another company – an advertising stand on the red carpet, one complimentary ticket and half a page in the booklet for the show.

Sponsor and Presenter

Sponsor and presenter of one of the OsKaR trophies on the night for €250. Full A5 page in the ‘Night at the OsKaRs’ booklet, which will be handed out to each attendee on the night for €100.

All of the movie and trophy sponsors will also appear on the schools various social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, all of which have a combined 23,000 followers and millions of likes to date.

A Night to Remember

On the night the school aims to have between five hundred and a thousand people in attendance and it promises to be a fantastic event to bring the wider Castleisland community together. Tickets for the night will go on sale from Saturday, March 25th. in the school.

They will be available for purchase through the school office weekdays from 8am until 6pm. Tickets for the night will be €30, which will include the booklet.

“The excitement is already building and there is a great buzz around the event with a number of locals taking on some of the most iconic movie roles in history. The countdown to April 21st is truly on,” according to Presentation Castleisland teacher and event spokesperson, Kevin Moore.
