The Castleisland fundraising branch of Kerry Hospice took to the streets on Friday last, June 9th for the annual Sunflower Day collection.
Collections took place outside Garvey’s SuperValu, Whyte’s Centra, Aldi, Castleisland Post office and in Nana Bea’s Café.
Chairperson of the local branch, Liz Galwey sends gratitude to all those who were responsible for the success of the collection.
Well Received by All
“As always, we were well received by all who crossed paths with us on Sunflower Day. We are delighted to announce that €5,145 was raised in Castleisland between 8.30am and 5pm.,” said Liz.
“This is such an amazing amount, raised in such a short time. We are so grateful to everyone who contributed, to the venues we collected at and to all who gave their time at our collection stations on the day.
“We have a wonderful committee of volunteers, who helped organise the day and they deserve to be praised for their continuous efforts.
Money Put to Good Use
“All of the money raised will be put to good use here in Kerry, plans are currently underway to develop an extension to the inpatient units to accommodate five extra beds.
“The need to fund-raise for Kerry Hospice continues but with the generosity shown by supporters over the years, the local branch has no doubt that targets will be met,” Liz concluded.
