Shouldn’t Driver Theory Test be on Transition Year Curriculum ? – Cllr. Cahill

Cllr. Michael Cahill is wondering why the the Driver Theory Test is not included on the Secondary School Curriculum during Transition Years so that students have a head start for when they think of getting a car.

“With the vast majority of young people today aspiring to drive a motor vehicle, it only makes sense that the Driver Theory Test should be included in the Secondary School Curriculum during Transition Year, for those who wish to choose it,” that’s according to Kerry Fianna Fáil Councillor, Michael Cahill.

“It would be highly advantageous if the Driver Theory Test was taught to Transition Year students, in the school environment and by a qualified teacher.

Learner Permit Application

“All students would be ready then, to apply for a Learner Permit as soon as they had reached legal age and progress onwards to take the practical exam.” said Councillor Cahill.

“Properly coached students would be better prepared to successfully take the Driver Theory Test, thus improving driving quality on our roads, while also reducing waiting lists at Test Centres. I believe the Minister for Education and her department officials will see the advantages of this proposal and will be happy to take my motion on board,” added the Rossbeigh based councillor.
