The family of the late Mrs. Mary Murphy – better known as Mary O in her native Adriville in Scartaglen – would like to invite her many friends and fundraisers to drop in to her home to remember her with a little celebration on Sunday, September 10th anytime between 10am and 5pm.
That’s the day on which Mary would have celebrated her 100th birthday and all the proceeds will be donated to Kerry Parents & Friends Association, Killarney
While she was able, Mary O was an inveterate fundraiser through her annual Alzheimer’s Tea Day’ the proceeds which went to ‘The Rosemary Centre’ in Tralee.
Crack of Dawn
She’d have the fire down and blazing and kettles hopping off the range from the crack of dawn and a team of family, neighbours and friends drilled in the art of Tea Day etiquette and service. I was on Mary’s rota of calls in getting word of the Scart Tea Day out there.
There was no point in mentioning full pages or deadlines to her.
You Won’t Forget ?
Later when I got a mobile phone and when I saw the 066 71 47485 number coming in around May Day there was nothing for it only grab a pen and paper, say hello and start taking notes.
“You won’t forget that so ? she’d sign off in the form of a question. You wouldn’t dare because you knew it had more to it than a mere question. May God be good to her.
Thanks to her grandson and Kerry Ladies PRO Paul for the reminder of Mary’s 100.
