Cordal GAA Lotto at Record High of €7,000 for June Draw

The May Lotto Draw was held on May 29. The jackpot of €6800 was not won so it will roll over to the June Lotto draw. The numbers called were 1,14, 17 and 25. Lucky dips went to: Shane Roche, Currow Village; Mundy Horan, Cordal; Niall Mulvihill, Moyvane; Ger Buckley, Duagh and to Mike Curtin, Brosna.

Well done and thanks to the senior team for running the May Lotto which was a great success. A big thank you to their team of sellers and all who supported the club by buying lotto tickets – it is greatly appreciated.

Cordal V Ballyduff – Novice Championship Quarter Final

Cordal played Ballyduff at home for the County Novice Championship Quarter Final. The game got into full swing with an early goal for the Ballyduff side.

They used this momentum to score a further four points in the first ten minutes of the game. Mikey Boyle quickly dominated the forward lines for Ballyduff scoring a further five points for their team. Cordal were shaken but Kieran O’Donoghue boosted morale when he scored a point in the 18th minute.

The 22nd minute saw Philip O’Connor score another point from play and, by the 26th minute, Cordal had three points with another nice score from Kieran O’Donoghue.

Cordal Stronger in Second Half

Ballyduff’s Mikey Boyle and Barry O’Grady ended the half with two further points for their side. The half time score left Cordal eleven points down with 0-03 to Ballyduff’s 1-11.

Cordal came back in the second half much stronger. They seemed to have found their spirit in the dressing room and had a much better half.

Jack Goulding scored the first point of the half and Mikey Boyle added more fuel to Ballyduff’s fire with another goal.

This drove the Cordal boys on further to turn the game around and the next fifteen minutes were dominated with Cordal scores.

Kieran O’Donoghue began the uphill battle with two points scored from frees in the fourth and seventh minutes of the half.

Philip O’Connor added three points to the scoresheet giving more hope to the Cordal team. Niall O’Ciardubhain also scored a nice point in the 12th minute.

Array of Scores

Then Mossie Enright came on for Cordal and scored another point in the 17th minute. Niall O’Ciardubhain finished Cordal’s array of scores with a point in the 18th minute. Mikey Boyle scored again with a point for Ballyduff but Cordal’s Padraig O’Connell made sure to give the home team one final point in the closing minutes before two further points were added to the Ballyduff scoresheet by Jack Goulding in the 31st minute.

Mikey Boyle closed the scoring after a very strong game on their part.

Cordal were defeated with 0-12 to Ballyduff’s 2-15 but they showed huge spirit and determination and made sure to prove themselves as a very able team after their strong offensive in the second half.

Well done to Ballyduff who played a very clean and skillful game. Cordal’s next game will be next week up against Knocknagoshel which is a County League fixture.
