There was widespread praise for the condition of the Castleisland Desmond’s GAA pitch for Sunday’s Lidl Ladies National League Division 2 game between Kerry and Dublin.

The day was cold and prone to hail showers, but it also gave way to passages of beautiful if harsh sunlight.

It was during one of these breaks in the sullen clouds that Limerick photographer, Tom Russell of Anois Photography let his drone out of its case.

Required Distance

He flew it at the required distance away from the crowd and the playing area and to the Pound Road side of the grounds.

This, birds eye view, really shows how well the pitch and ground looks at present and how well it was presented on the day.

Groundsmen, Mike Cremin and Willie Reidy got a hand on the day from Willie’s son Bill and they also got the lion’s share of the praise for what Tom’s drone footage so clearly shows. Credit where it’s due and all that.

Dublin won the game on a score of 1-8 to 0-8. You’ll find more of Tom Russell’s excellent coverage of the game at: http://anoisphotography.photoshelter.com
