Minors Bring Home the Points from Churchill

Churchill 0-9 Ballymac 2-7 We travelled to Churchill last Saturday evening for our first County League fixture and returned with two valuable league points.

A strong wind blew across the field and made conditions difficult for both teams.Fine performances by captain Dara Reagan and Tadhg Brick among others helped us to this victory.

The home side pointed early on and minutes later Dara Reagan won possession took a return pass from Barry Lyons and pointed.

Dara Broderick was fouled and Dara Reagan pointed from the free. Barry Lyons pointed from a Dylan Moriarty pass.

While at the other end, a fine block by Tadhg Brick prevented a certain score. Cathal Dunne drove upfield and pointed while Churchill pointed two frees.

Dara Reagan’s goal-bound effort was blocked but Tadhg Brick was on hand to flick to the net. Keelan Brosnan was fouled and Reagan pointed with Churchill also pointing.

Half time score Ballymac 1-5 Churchill 0-4. The home side started the second half in style kicking two points inside the first five minutes.

Keelan Brosnan picked out Barry Lyons with a fine pass and when he was fouled, Reagan pointed.

Dunne again went upfield passed to Moriarty who in turn put Diarmuid Lynch through for a fine point.

Churchill responded with two points to leave us ahead 1-7 to 0-8 midway through the half. Again Churchill pointed with about 12 minutes left to set up an exciting finish.
