He is, arguably, Donegal’s most famous citizen with legions of loyal fans in many parts of the world.

Entertainer and singer, Daniel O’Donnell is also adored in a little pocket of community life here in Castleisland.

Fans and Friends

Once every couple of years when he’s down around this side of the country he never forgets his friends and fans at Castleisland Day Care Centre.

Friday last was one of those special days in the life of the centre when Daniel made his biennial visit.

Highly Anticipated

His visit was highly anticipated and well prepared for and an impromptu choir eagerly awaiting the first note of the usual sing-song.

Rita McCarthy of the centre said that the visit caused great excitement and she had been busily photocopying his songs for the all inclusive sing-along.

Solo and Duet

“He sang This is My Home-Land; The Homes of Donegal and Patsy Fagan as solos and duets with the centre clients.

“Then there were photographs taken with Daniel and nearly everyone who was here on the day and we’re all over Facebook since,” said Rita.
