Castleisland Desmonds GAA Club News Round-Up

The latest Lotto draw was held in Browne’s Bar on Saturday.

The winning numbers drawn were: 11, 17, 19 and 28. There was no winner of the jackpot of €5,700.

Lucky dip prizes were won by Edmund Hartnett, Castleisland, €30 and €20 each to: Áine Kennedy, Niall Dillon, Ruby Brosnan all Castleisland and Megan O’Connell, Cordal,

Membership Fees Now Due

Club membership for the year is now due, Benefits include: free entry into every Lotto draw; free admission to all league games; access to tickets for Kerry’s championship games including special budget family tickets; entry to a draw for the All Ireland football final; texting service if requested.

Increasingly Expensive

Running a modern club is increasingly expensive but we also have ambitious plans to develop our playing facilities even further.  We need your support.

Membership of €100 can be paid to any club officer or on line or by Standing Order of €8.50 a month.

Club Fixtures

The senior team travel to Ballydonoghue to play R3 of the North Kerry league next Sunday, 24th.  Throw in is at noon.

The minors play their next game in the county league on Saturday, March 2nd at 4pm away to Keel/Listry

Minor Ladies Fixtures

The Desmond’s minor ladies team play Na Gaeil this Saturday at 4pm. in Castleisland.

Kerry v Mayo in Tralee

The eagerly awaited senior football league clash with Mayo will be played on Saturday, March 16th in Austin Stack Park, Tralee at 7pm.. This is an all ticket match and supporters are advised to purchase theirs from Garvey’s Supervalu or Centra as soon as possible. Tickets will not be allocated by the county board to clubs.

Weekend Games

Desmonds minors defeated Milltown/ Castlemaine in Castleisland on Saturday by 2-12 to 1-10 scorers for Desmonds were: Leo O’Connor, 1-0; PJ Curtin, 0-4; Mark Hickey, 0-4; Oisin Nolan, 0-1 and James Heffernan, 1-2.

The seniors lost Listowel Emmetts on Sunday in the North Kerry League by 0-9 to 3-12 scorers: Tommy Walsh, 0-5; Kieran Brennan, 0-1; Barry Lynch, 0-1; Graham O’Connor, 0-1and Thomas lynch 0-1.

Positions Filled at Meeting

At the recent meeting of the club Hugh O’Connell took up the position of the second club treasurer while James Lyons and Denis Kerins came in as assistant PROs, James for Coiste Na Nog and Denis for the ladies club.

Intermediate Draw

Desmonds face John Mitchels in the first round of the intermediate championship this game will be at a neutral venue and no date fixed yet,

Garda Vetting Vital

It is vital that coaches and officers are Garda vetted this can be done on line on the Kerry GAA website.

Medal Presentations

Congratulations to all our juvenile girls and boys who were presented with their certs and  medals on Friday night.
