Kerry County Council is reminding members of the public to check that they are registered to vote in the general election which will be held on Saturday, 8 February 2020.

Kerry County Council is the body responsible for maintaining and updating the Register of Electors for County Kerry.

Closing Date is Wednesday 22nd.

Members of the public who are not currently registered to vote can apply to be included on the Supplement to the Register of Electors. The closing date for inclusion on this register is the coming Wednesday, 22 January 2020.

The relevant form for the Supplementary Register of Electors (RFA2), which is available online and from public offices, must be signed and stamped by a member of An Garda Síochána and returned to the Register of Electors at Kerry County Council, County Buildings, Tralee by that date.

Applied Since May 2019 – Check it Now

Voters who were included in the Supplement to the Register of Electors for the local and European elections of May 2019 are registered for the general election and do not need to take any action on this occasion.

However, anyone who applied for inclusion on the Draft Register of Electors in the period since the elections of May 2019 is not automatically registered to vote in this general election as the new Register of Electors does not come into effect until 15 February 2020 which is a date later than that on which the general election will be held.

Must Apply to be Included

Those voters must apply to be included on the Supplement to the Register of Electors on or before Wednesday, 22 January as set out above.

To ensure that anyone who applied for inclusion on the Draft Register of Electors and to ensure that eligible voters have the opportunity to exercise their franchise, Kerry County Council is contacting all such applicants for the draft register to advise them of this requirement.
