First Virtual School Tour For Muire Gan Smál Pupils

Little Áine Enright, all set up for her exciting Scoil Muire Gan Smál / African Adventure this week.

The children of Castleisland’s Muire Gan Smál Presentation Primary School got all dressed up and packed their bags this week to go on their very first Virtual School Tour.

The tour was organised by the school’s Deputy Principal Maura Browne after liaising with the wonderful Discovery and Learning Team at Dublin Zoo who are very kindly offering these tours to schools free of charge during the current school closures.

All ‘Jetted Off to Africa’

The children in the junior classes of the school along with those in the school’s three ASD classes all ‘jetted off’ on a virtual African Adventure which explored the wonderful adaptations of African animals.

They joined Kelly from Dublin Zoo as she visited the giraffes, gorillas, okapi and more.

Pupils from third to sixth classes, however, headed off on a virtual Rainforest Ranger tour which explored the fascinating rain-forest animals, biodiversity and conservation.

Bornean Orangutans and Asian Elephants

They joined Kelly as she visited the Bornean orangutans, Asian elephants and more.

These virtual tours support the SESE curriculum for Primary School children from Junior Infants to 6th class and were greatly enjoyed by the children and their families,” said spokesperson, Emma Sweeney.
