Castleisland Community College organised a Gingerbread House Christmas Baking Competition just before the holidays and the students put on a show of creativity through their entries.

All students in the school were invited to take part in the competition which was organised by the home economics department at the school under teacher Jo McGrath.

The entries were displayed in the home economics room and students from all classes and teachers voted on their favourite entry.

Standard of Entries

“The standard of entry was outstanding and it certainly displayed the superb effort made by all contestants – the level of creativity by the students was excellent,” said Ms. McGrath.

The top three students whose entries were voted most creative were: 1st. Shauna O’Keeffe, transition year; 2nd. Bláithín O’Mahony, third year and 3rd. Meghan Aherne, first year.

The winners received gift vouchers and all contestants received a goodie bag and a certificate.
