Anna’s Speech Wins Place in National Action Talks Finals

Presentation Castleisland Student, Anna McSweeney, Knockbrack, Knocknagoshel has qualified from the regional and Munster finals as a national finalist in ActionTalks – a national speech writing competition.

Anna McSweeney, from Knockbrack, Knocknagoshel and a student at Presentation Secondary School, Castleisland has won the Munster qualifiers of the ActionTalks Speech Writing competition.

Anna has just been chosen as a Munster final winner in ActionTalks, which is a national speech writing competition run by ActionAid and is open to all students aged 14 to 17.

Finals in Dublin

Anna won a €50 One4All voucher and will now proceed to the national final of the ActionTalks Competition, which is taking place in Dublin on March 28th.

The competition aims to engage young people with global issues, gender equality and sustainable development, and challenges them to use their voice to create positive change.

Blown Away by Quality

This year the prize is a €500 One4All voucher for the national winner and a €100 voucher for their teacher.

“We were blown away by the quality of delivery in the Munster final, as well as the research, critical thinking and time that went into writing the speeches,” said Karole Balfe, CEO of ActionAid Ireland.
