Noke Theatre in conjunction with St. John’s Theatre in Listowel are setting up a new play-wrighting group.

The group will be managed by Richard Walsh, a Ballybunion playwright who has been working as such for 13 years.

His plays have been performed both locally and internationally.

Monthly Meetings

The group will meet once a month and every six months a reading of excerpts of people’s work will take place in St. John’s Theatre and participation in the readings will be optional.

“We will also be recruiting various high profile writers to lead sessions and give talks,” said Mr. Walsh.

“All levels are encouraged to join, with the only stipulation that participants are serious about completing a full play.

Support, Structure and Motivation

“The monthly meetings will provide support, structure and motivation to achieve this,” he said.

This initiative is being supported by the Arts Council, St. John’s Theatre and Kerry County Council.
